Anakin's and Vader's Attributions

Image
Welcome back everyone to my Blog! I hope everyone is doing alright and having a good time during this rough period of life. Today I am going to be talking about Attribution Theory and looking at Anakin and Vader through this lens. For those who do not know Attribution seeks to explain why people feel compelled to understand why things happen in their life. This occurs when someone attempts to determine the cause of an event, effect, or behavior. There are three factors for Attribution Theory: Locus of control, Controllability, and Stability. This is all focusing on Causes, so it is referred to as Causal Attribution Theory. This is going to be tricky to do because in the Star Wars universe there is the concept of the Force. The basic gist of the Force is that is an energy field that binds the whole Universe together.  Greetings everyone! Welcome back to my character study of Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader of the Star Wars Universe. Today we will be looking at his Goals and the complexity of his goals. This time we will continue to look at our hero and villain through the lens of Expectancy-Value Theory but more of a focus on the Value Aspect of the theory. So, Anakin’s values for himself are all included in interests, reasons, goals, utility value, and cost/benefit. For Anakin’s goals, we have talked about how he wants to become the greatest Jedi ever in recorded history and to fulfill his love with his secret wife Padme Amidala. For Anakin’s interests that would be keeping the peace, building, creating, fixing, repairing, and Padme. His reasons would be the Jedi Code, the Prophecy of the Chosen One, and his deep feelings for those he loves. For his utility value, Anakin is constantly seeking what is relevant for his goal of fulfilling the prophecy of the Chosen One or for Protecting Padme. His most cost/benefit value is about seeking feedback fro
